All right. Since I've never assigned theme songs to any of my characters, I decided to derp around YouTube to find some. >_> Uh, yeah. whatevs. I also typed this while not looking at my keyboard! I'm still not typing "correctly" (meaning using 4 out of 10 fingers and not using home row), but I'm still doing it fairly quickly. C:

Basically, I like soundtracking things. The games I run, the various characters, any story scene that I write. So it should come to no surprise that I blow this simple task out of proportion and give you Act 1 of the entire soundtrack to the life of Zachary Dellinger. This act revolves around his life before Erinn. Enjoy. ((also, I'm renaming the songs appropriately))

Time for some specific, inter-character themes for the moment that I have! Woo! Now with REASONS!



From This Oil Can (Dan Adriano) - Normally the bass player and secondary vocals to the band Alkaline Trio (who I love, don't get me wrong), Dan really stands out on his own with emotional, folk-laced ballads of the heart. This song is about something good rising from all the rot, and rising above yourself and who you were. "From this oil can, somehow there grows an orchid. And all your leaves were born in ashes, but they will die in the sunlight." (Okay, perhaps he's a bit...brooding in his analogies, but it IS a song about good things!)



Collide (Howie Day) - Probably one of my favorite 90's love songs, singing of being nervously optimistic. Things aren't going too well in the song, but, well..they 'collide'. Vayne's current theme for Aldora. Even the best fall down sometimes, and even the wrong words seem to rhyme. And all of the doubt that fills your mind, you'll finally find that you and I collide.




Graceful Dancing (Blue October) - "A song about what it feels like, as that individual who basically has to talk himself into believing he has something important enough to pay attention to." Well, Vayne does talk himself into it quite often, but there's another person who does a great job at supporting him and keeping him down the path they know he belongs on. "Describe the pain that chokes your reality. 'It's gonna be fine,' he says, 'you've got to keep graceful dancing.' "



Disarm (Smashing Pumpkins) - Choices, man..choices. ..Choices. "Disarm you with a smile.."

Sharing my freak Spotify incident last night. I swear, it's trying to tell me something. Seriously, it was like it was trying to predict RP and tell me a story.

So, am..am I the only one who thinks that this was uncanny as all get out? =| I was borderline creeped.

Browsing through related tracks to my playlists on Youtube led to this. Given the quiet, "peaceful", yet conflicting moments a few of my characters are going through right now (Temo and Mikhail, specifically), this seemed like a calmer tune to one of my adventurous journey kind of favorites - same premise, but perhaps focused more on reflection or issues closer to home.

The chorus of this song made me think of Leorina's relationship with a certain merman. They've got a turbulent friendship, of sorts, both related to their issues with trust and interpersonal relationships. Hopefully their relationship will reach a calm, despite their interactions and clashing -- yet complementing-- personalities.

There is a song in this that is really nice. Fits Glacia decently I think.

Lyrics only are a few, but the music itself fits a battle mood.
