He remembers the time before he became himself; The sweet anguish, the righteous cause, the glorious battle. In conformity, there was bliss. In individuality, there is only pain.

After Nuadha ceased to command them, Daols knew nothing. They were nothing. And so they waited. They stood vigil. Time broke down the walls of their conformity and in some of them a sliver of conciousness grew. One Daol in particular, with his newfound glimmer of awareness, grasped onto the protective guarding instincts of the Daols. Time again broke down his nature and slowly he felt akin to a guardian, an older brother to his companions. Like a hawk he protected them from unseen dangers.
So when the time came that a Daol broke free from the chains and hurled herself away from them, it pained him. Gave him a feeling he never knew he could feel. It wounded him more than he knew he could be wounded. Outraged, another Daol hurled herself through and it broke him. In a fury of paternal instinct, he shattered the chains of conformity and tore through the Soul Stream to Erinn, determined to bring his companions to safety.
