New Member - Rolande
Character Name: Rolande
How You Heard About The RP Society: I saw a few members outside Qilla.
How Long Have You Been Roleplaying? 5-6 years in various forms.
Is English Your First Language? Yep, it sure is!
A Short Biography Of Your Character: Well to put it simply, Rolande is a very quiet submissive guy, very much a pushover. Mind you, the fact that he's submissive does not make him weak, the many scars under his robe are proof enough of his affinity for war. Now as for how he physically is, he's well muscled, obviously knowing how to take care of his body, but not to the point where he's one of those drooling powerlifters... Hmmm, yeah this is a pretty awkward biography. OH YEAH! One of his quirks is it's pretty common for him to kill a conversation by saying something stupid, so he doesn't talk all too much, relying mostly on body language to get his point across. So yeah, that's pretty much Rolande in a nut shell. Oh, another thing, he has an accent, stemming from where he's originally from, France, ask him and he won't be able to tell you though, he doesn't remember anything before showing up in Erinn.
What type of character do you play? A quiet, pacifistic fighter.
What is your Mabinogi schedule? 3:30-9:00 US Central time.
(Editted to include where he's from)

Portraying someone who uses nonverbal communication for the majority of conversations sounds difficult...

I'm sure you can agree as a roleplayer that it'd be an interesting concept if done correctly.

It does sound interesting, although it might annoy Rebecca, not something you want to do

I suppose I'll make a slight edit then, he doesn't stay silent, he just talks very quietly.

No need to edit yourself, Rebecca's not very likeable at the best of times

Re: New Member - Rolande
Yeah...my guy is kinda friendly and he still doesn't like hanging around Rebbeca (Mostly because she kills most conversations).
Re: New Member - Rolande
Kills a conversation indirectly by killing the speaker at times if I remember correctly.

You're all entitled to your opinions, but I should point out that Rebecca has yet to actually kill anybody.
...does anybody feel that we are getting off topic here?

Yes I feel like we're off topic...Also when I said "Kills the topic" I mean that she says something and everyone kinda...gets away from her...and then starts talking in private...
Re: New Member - Rolande
back on topic then
Since this game isn't exactly live chat then a character communicating non-verbally is not as much a challenge.
A bigger pain would be someone who could not communicate in the same language as everyone else.
I have been there where there is not one common language in a group of adventurers - it makes for some fun but is also very awkward with multiple translations going on all the time.
Everyone pretty much falls back to pantomime as the more effective method of communication.
So playing the part of a mute would be challenging but not as all out difficult as one would think.
There are already NPCs whose communication is almost half of a non-verbal nature - Fergus and Trefor come to mind.
