Being a Pirate is All Fun and Games 'Til Somebody Loses a Whats-It
Oh, it's all part of being a pirate! (A pirate, a pirate!)
You can't be a pirate... with all of your par-ar-arts!
So far I like this.
We needed some big things.
What else do we need from Xeek / what do we need fixed?
Also, as a heads up. Cannons are a thing. There are some on the ship to Belvast.

I am not sure if there is a template for this, but I will just describe what I would like,
I would like for two ships with 20-25 crewmen, average sized and well equipped.
And a third ship, very large and very well battle equipped, Frankenstein's monster. The ship is large and carries 30-ish men.
The weapons include things like cannon, ballista, bowmen with fire arrows, battering(?) rams, and all that beautiful battle stuff, under the command of
Frankenstein. Of course, other players would be able to join.
At the very least, I would like an average ship with 25-30 crewmen, including the captain. The ship should be well equipped for fighting.
I would like this to be sent to councilors/plot people, to see what they think, ect.

He needs our approval for this?
Whatever, it seems fine to me.

I think members need approval to own such a large amount of NPCs. Remember Wolfe's retardedly huge army? Didn't we want to avoid that happening again?
Notice that he's not requesting a plot that ends, but a crew he can use until he's done with it or it dies.
That is close to 80 crew that are not PCs.

I think he's making sure it's alright because it might affect cities.
Y'know.
Pirate raiding the countryside.
Trade lanes.

He spoke to me in MSN before sending the request, because I told him to send it.
In any case, while it may affect towns, I can see it as abuse-able. "Oh, by the way I pretty much has a little army, time to take over a small town that can't do anything about it~"
There are small towns, Qilla, Zardina, maybe Cobh and Bangor.
The question I have is, do we want to limit the amount of NPC characters people have(being those without a body or even a name and just used as a plot device) at any given time, and what limit would their power be?
Because people could just say they have an army of people that are as strong at Teo.

Re: Being a Pirate is All Fun and Games 'Til Somebody Loses a Whats-It
I hate the army of strong people theory. Tbh, the way I run the Corenite is that the NPCs is that, unless they are named, are 'basic' levels of whatever they are. Rank F in everything that isn't their 'job,' ~maybe rank E-9 for "That's my focus!" and ~maybe rank 9-6 for 'commander' level NPCs (IE, guys with names).
Unless they are plotted or named, they shouldn't have high ranking skills. IE, people important to the main individuals in there should have stats appropriate to what they do. But an 'army' implies a lot of rank and file UNLESS ASKED FOR OTHERWISE. So if people want an army of Teo, they should ask, saying "So I want to bring this huge specialist group of assassins in killing milliteans for a big plot. Can I have like 10 teo NPCs?"
That's how I kind of thought of the bandits in Twilit War, and have kind of understood them to be like since. Even though they aren't fighting.

But...Xeek isn't being specific in what he wants.
He just wants..people. That's pretty much all we know. Human? Giant? Something else entirely? Dunno. -shrug-

Xeek wrote:They are 'basic grunt' level. Most of them know archery and melee only. A few of them know the defensive shields(Ex. Natural Shield, Fire Magic shield, ect). There is probably very few wizards, though not strong and will mostly act as healers. No alchemist, no puppeteers. There is large drums for 1-2 bard per ship.Dellinger wrote:Ok, man. I need some more information from ya:
We need approximate skill levels and composition of your crews. How strong are they (rank wise could be appropriate), any specialists, specific numbers of each races, etc. IE, this is to make sure you aren't housing an army of Teo's at your fingertips. The more specific, the better.
So just a review: The ships are armed with dual weilding fighters, who can use bows. 1-2 healers, 1-2 bards. And almost all know very weak rank of the defensive shields.
It's filled with humans/humanoids. Their might be hybrids (cat humans-ect) but they have no powers. If I don't have to request it, if I do they are just humans. Very few elves, and even less giants.
Does that answer it? basically, the strongest one there is Frankenstein, which is represented by Fiodh.I am not sure how long it'll go for, most likely forever. Also, do you have any generalized plan you can send my way so we can know approximately what to expect and for how long Frankenstein may be active?
Current OOC plans are the fight with Hyu, an attack on Qilla, and the battle with Dell's group. IC plans are only attack other ships.
Another concern: There is chances the fleet can be destroyed, I was thinking 2-3 weeks would be a good revival period to Franky to get his group back up? Does that seem fair?

Re: Being a Pirate is All Fun and Games 'Til Somebody Loses a Whats-It
Frankly, I'm cool with it being a reoccurring thing until someone either kills or arrests the captain (or arrests again, depending on the situation). I don't think it qualifies for an FEC, even with the amount of NPCs. Especially since they aren't one of a kinds and more like expendible cannon fodder that can be replaced.
Far as the ships go, should they be destroyed I think we'd need to be a bit more realistic with that. It's a little bit harder for pirates to go about getting the exact same models of ships, especially like the Frankenstein Monster, given it's made from salvage of other vessels. I'd go with...maybe 4-5 weeks (or somewhere within a month) to at least get THAT specific ship back to fearsome working order?

I think this is fine.
I also think that as long as he means 2-3 RL weeks (which is 2-3 IG years) that timing should be fine, too.

Do we have any more questions at the moment? If not, I can send this off to Xeek when next I have a moment.

Nope, I think we're all good here.

Sent. He told me he'll start setting this up as soon as he gets his new machine.
We should have a space for saved approved plot ideas in council separate from 'general issues.' Just sayin'.
