Auron's Necromancy
Character: Auron
Race: Human
IC Skill Name:Lesser Re-animation
Power Class:Magical/Familiar
OOC Representation:Skeleton Maid Pet
Description: Through Fardoragh's influence, Auron's interests began to include necromancy. He would constantly visit graveyards where he'd practice necromancy, pretending to be speaking to the dead when others were around. Finally, he was able to re-animate one of the skeletons. With this power, Auron can re-animate one skeleton. He can't produce them out of nowhere, he'd have to be near a burial site.
Explain relation: The Mini-Skeleton pet represents the skeleton Auron summons.
Notes:The skeleton is de-summoned if it's attacked/Auron's knocked out. Auron can summon this at any time in the day. If Auron were to attempt to attack with the skeleton, the skeleton would crumble. The skill depletes Auron's mana and will be represented with mana shield. It takes about 10% of his mana to resurrect the skeleton and the process of resurrection lasts about 10 seconds. Due to the fact that the skeleton won't undergo any strenuous physical activity, Auron can maintain the resurrection for 1 in-game day.

Re: Auron's Necromancy
Not that I have a problem with Necromancy, but where did he learn it? It's a very hush-hush type magic.

Re: Auron's Necromancy
During the Mithos Arc, he interacted frequently with the Arc Lich. Sure, he was almost killed several times, but he managed to take mental notes of Metus and the Lich himself. From there, he performed his own experiments in Taillteann's graveyard and Sen Mag. He's been doing this for years now, so it's not like he just learned it out of the blue (Heh heh, blue. /slaps knee.)

Re: Auron's Necromancy
Honestly, I would prefer if this thing could talk or attack.
Otherwise. . . it has no real use besides showboating.

Re: Auron's Necromancy
I think this is a first for a power request to be judged on being "underpowered"? Just because you find it a useless skill, it doesn't mean it actually is. It can grab things, but not throw them. This is supposed to be a kind-of precursor skill for Auron. It -will- get stronger to the point where the skeleton can fight effectively. I'm waiting for Puppet skills for that, though. At the moment, I -can't- make it attack because it's one of those fashion pets. And I didn't want to give it the ability to speak because Auron's supposed to be in control. It has absolutely -no- sentience. So it wouldn't be talking on its own. Though, I will alter the ability so that it allows Auron to speak -through- the skeleton. They both have to be in the same general area for the skill to work. Meaning, I have to be able to see my pet for it to work.

To me, it's fine as it is as a gateway power.
HOWEVER.
Can he HEAR through the skeleton?

Re: Auron's Necromancy
Now this raises more problems. . .
For one how are you making it talk?
Mind control? Or are you throwing your voice?
How can it hear and how can you hear through it? This leads me to believe some form of extra sensory or psychic like powers are being involved.

Re: Auron's Necromancy
Forget it. I'm sticking to my original plan of simplicity. No speech, no hearing. Simple summoning and it grabs, touches, doesn't attack things.
I honestly don't care if it's "a waste of a power". I like it like that and over-simplicity should NOT be a basis for power-approval.

Re: Auron's Necromancy
It isnt I am just voicing my opinion.
There is a lot of room for growth when you leave it so blank though.
If you got this approved you would need to be very exact in how it grew from this blank slate.
Also can anyone learn this technique?
What is the ritual composed of?

Re: Auron's Necromancy
This is exactly how it's going to be until puppet skills comes out. When it does grow, I will post new abilities for the skeleton to be approved.
Yeah, if they have the knowledge and sufficient mana. It's not unique to him.
He extends a portion of his mana to control the bones in a way similar to golems. Unlike golem summoning though, Auron can move and speak while controlling the skeleton. For now though, he can't attack either.

So you are now having it attack again?
Just clarifying.

Re: Auron's Necromancy
I never gave it the ability to attack. o_O
To Clarify
What the skeleton can do at the moment (Meaning pre-Puppet powers):
-Walk
-Interact with objects
What the skeleton cannot do at the moment:
-Attack with its body (Meaning he -can- activate a bomb by nudging it down a hill or some other indirect method.)
-Throw the objects it picks up
-Speak/Hear

He being Auron. The skeleton was never able to attack.

Re: Auron's Necromancy
Q: What happens if the skeleton were to attack like, I know he can't... but what stops him? Will he break?
Also: What if he is attacked?

Re: Auron's Necromancy
If Auron were to attempt to make the skeleton attack, the skeleton would crumble. Auron would be able to reanimate it though.
If the skeleton were attacked, same thing.

Re: Auron's Necromancy
Ok. . .so is your mana constantly depleting while controlling the skeleton?
Sounds like the skeleton cannot do anything on its own.
