RPSociety Voice Server
A side project of our very own Kenelm, RPSociety now has another resource to chat while dungeoning, commercing, or just hanging out, voice or text. The server has been set up on GSC - The Total Gaming Client, which you can create an account to and download from THIS LINK.
The specific server is called "Marswipp's Server." It's IP address that you can search for via the GSC client is:
The server is voice compatible, and is still under construction as we figure out what kind of rooms will be useful to those who use the resource. If you have any questions, please message Kenelm or I. We'll do our best to explain as I learn the program and he's available.
Cheers to a new way to earn the 'lulz' in RPS. Thanks to Kenelm for his effort and brilliance.
::EDIT:: I'd also like to propose making a list of user names and who they belong to on this post, that way if something doesn't equate in game, people can at least eventually figure it out. =]

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
The server itself was created sometime back, and I had made a post about it quite a while ago. That post was in the old "Members Only" section...
Edit: You can also search by name in the GSC client.

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
In a scale of 1-10, how much power do you think it'd take to run on a regular computer? A few of our members can't afford the CPU while playing Mabi. It might be cheaper(refering to computer power) to use something like ventrillo.

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
No idea how much power it takes. I know it runs smoothly on mine. -shrugs- You'd have to ask Kenelm. However, it's at least worth looking into if you're interested.

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
Update: To answer your Q, Xeek, I checked my task manager. It doesn't take up any more memory than the various other chat systems I have, save Pidgin which runs fairly minimalistically.

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
It might lag your client on a single core CPU if you have Mabinogi running.

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
Vent was neat. The paying for it not-so-much.
It's pretty simple to use, only I had to move the push-to-talk button away from ctrl since when I'm in Gimp all I do is ctrl+z. >_>

Anyone else interested in checking out this server? I'm the only one connected to it at this time.

Just to be the skeptic, is there anything to worry about? Like toolbars, "bonus" programs, something that might cause an inconvenience for computers?

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
I've been sitting AFK on the voice server all day, and I do see some interesting connection and room change activity.

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
Is this actually still a thing or is it dead or removed?
I hope the answer is not "it is dead because everyone uses skype" because skype usually eats a lot more bandwith and processing power than any other VoIP client ever ^^°
*stumbled across it while searching for something else, sparked interest*

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
When in doubt, check the dates.
Last post before yours was July 2012, which means yes it's dead.

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
The GSC voice server still exists, actually. It's just been forgotten--mostly.

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
Considering the amount of people using it, I consider it currently dead.
If you can convince people to use it again, I'll consider it revived. -shrug-

Re: RPSociety Voice Server
I believe it was a lack of commitment over the other aspects that led to it's use fading away.
