I require ideas and opinions :3

So i found this motorized scooter over the weekend and I've been working on it with some success(barely any). When i found it all the wires were spliced the accelerator on the handlebars was destroyed and the wiring to the motor was cut along with brake lines. So far I've managed to rewire almost everything and placed a push button on the area of the scooter that you put your foot on connected to the wiring for the accelerator. I've gotten the engine to rev up and spin the rear wheel but when i touch the wheel to the floor it stalls and i har the motor jamming and the wheel doesnt budge. I was thinking of puttting another motor on it but i dont know what i could use as a replacement. I'd like some opinions on this to see what can be done.
