Espeon's Ability

Espeon is a very smart girl, so she is able to understand and pick up on things very quickly. She also, from her previous world, knows a lot of information about various things. So due to this, I have an ability to possibly get approved.

Espeon's Ability: Quick Learn

Espeon's mind is able to quickly pick up on things and understand them much faster than a normal person. For example, if she is taught how to use a new weapon, she will start mastering it within hours. If you talk a language around her long enough, she will start picking out context and being able to translate bits and pieces of it. Not sure if this would be a power so much as just an ability of her mind being adapt to learning quickly.

I may need to post a more detailed pre-erinn backstory, but pretty much, that's the only real "power" I can think of that Espeon would have.

However, for the language bit, it would take several rl days of talking the language around her. Her known languages already are basic Japanese, Fluent Common English, and some Cat-tongue.

This is not a power, having a high IQ is part of your character. You just need to be able to back it up. It's hard to play characters smarter than you, I know, I've tried.

Basic Japanese is pretty much based off what I remember, I took (and failed....) a First-level Japanese course.

But ok, wasn't sure if it was an actual power or not, thanks for notifying.

I just don't see it being realistic or fair to those who have developed a character to slowly master something IC.

But I have no authority. Just my thoughts.

I agree with Roze.

Even though the "power" has been blue binned, I think it should be known that rping with that level of intelligence which to some is a power (Superhero comic book nerd >.>) is a form of godmodding.

Now if it was just that Espeon becomes highly proficient after some time with something then that is more acceptable.

Pretty much it's the highly proficient, she can never master something completely. And it does take a while, just as if someone else was learning it really fast. Pretty much a bookworm so to speak. But she learns from expierence and other people more, and does seek out help from people to help learn quickly too. However, she won't even be able to "master" something completely, so to speak.

Well even so, I don't see how she could learn a language simply by hearing bits and pieces.

She would have to have some sort of basic knowledge before hand to get those bits and pieces.

Saying she'd understand just from listening doesn't really seem like it would work unless someone sat down and taught her.

Well it's picking up context clues.

Now if it was just saying it without really anything to go by, she would be clueless. But, for example, when Soifa called Lucern that one thing -forgets-. She would be able to pick that up and use context to know it meant nephew. But it has to be somewhat apparently about it. If there are actions with the language, she could pull from that and try to guess. However, no one is perfect, and she could easily get it wrong. But for Japanese, since she has basic understanding, she is more easily able to learn that. Something like German or Dutch, or even Spanish, she would be clueless like learning a new language altogether.

This leads me to the point I made.
If there are actions with the language, she could pull from that and try to guess. However, no one is perfect, and she could easily get it wrong

And yes, someone would have to sit down with her and teach her, I do remember the german book incident.

But putting aside languages, just learning skills in a matter of hours isn't fair to the people took the time to have their character learn the skill IC.

I'm just saying it doesn't seem fair to those people.

It's also like the fact that I can train a skill in one day and get it high ranked quickly. Which oddly enough is what I do. If you really put the training in, getting something done is easy. So in that sense, it's quick learn for the basics, then just determined training on Espeon's part.

You choose how long it takes you to make your character. While the thing is logical is something else. But IQ is not really a power.
And I have learned languages by hearing bits of it.
(Nobody spoke spanish in the part of texas I went to)

Also, what do you mean IC skills?
