"Mommy, why is he still there?"
"I think he is waiting for someone."
"For who?"
"A friend? Someone to take care of him? How should I know?"
"He looks hungry."
"Tomorow we'll give him food, okay?"
"Okay! What do you think he likes?"
"I don't know?"
"Can I ask him?"
"No, he may be dangerous."
The next day, the child return with his father to bring him a plate for of food.
"Are you hungry?" The child smiled "We brought you food."
He did not move, he just laid there.
"Daddddyyyyyy he doesn't want to eat."
"Look, my child brought this for you, the least you can do is try it."
"It's okay daddy, mommy said he is waiting for someone."
It was 5'clock. The time for the train to arrive. As it did, he sat up, and watched the passengers exit.
"Look daddy! He moved!"
"Maybe the person is on that train?"
The last passenger exited the train, he laid back down.
"Daddy, make him eat?"
"If he doesn't want to, we can't make him."
"But you make me eat."
"He is not ours."
"Okay daddy..."
The child grabbed the father's hand, as they walked away.
"He is just lonely....he needs a friend, daddy."
For a week the child watched him, he stood up everyday at 5, when the trained passed. Checking every passenger. One day, at 5, he did not sit up at the train.
"Daddy, he is not sitting up, why is he not sitting up?"
"Maybe he is asleep?"
"But he'll miss his friend."
"I don't think the friend is coming."
"But... but he has to."
"I am sorry, lets go."
As the train opened, the passengers exited, the child shouted/
"WAKE UP! WAKE UP! You'll miss your friend!"
He did not move, the kid left with his head hanging down.
Later out of the train, came out a small creature.
"Woof Woof!"
The boy who was laying down stood up. "Finally, I was waiting for you" He smiled.
"Woof!"
"I now know why you took so long"
"Woof woof!"
"Oh? Mom and Dad are waiting? You are right, I can smell grandma's cooking!"
"Woof!"

"Mommy Daddy! Did you see the newspaper?"
"Oh? No... what happened?"
"He found his friend! He did!"
"Oh, that's very good. I am happy for him."
"Mmmhmm! He thanked me for being so nice to him, and he was sorry he didn't take the food, but that'll get him farther from his friend."
"Ahhh, that's very nice. I am glad for him."

The little boy left the newspaper on the kitchen desk. The heading for today "Little boy starved to death by train tracks."
