How they came to be in Erinn:
Tia lived a very peculiar life. She was born a twin, and orphaned at a very young age. While her twin took to a life of thievery and petty crimes, Tia devoted her life to certain arts. She had a knack for making potions, and found herself most at ease when planting or hunting for certain herbs. Even partaking in some "herbal remedies", herself. When she wasn't traveling, she opened a small shop in one of the major cities. Often giving potions away for free, or offering advice to those too poor to seek medical attention. By night, Tia found her calling as an exorcist. Driving away mad and unsettled spirits in to their final resting place. It was during a job that she encountered a monster cat, Bake-neko the locals called it, who lapped up the lamp oils and tried set the village on fire every night. The cat was amused by the girl's attempts to exorcise it, and came to posses Tia.

Years went by in this fashion. Day in, day out.. until the spirit of the cat became active and caused her to transform in to a monster. But by now, she was attached to the creature, and considered her the same as it. One evening, she was approached by a monk governed by the god of Life. Instead of driving out the spirit that dwelled within Tia, the monk destroyed her body and failed to dispose of the spirit properly, and they were pulled in to the soul stream.

Tia was reborn in to an elf, while the monster cat's spirit was placed in to the body of a cat. Each holding memories the other has lost, and occasionally suffering from a split personality, due to the previous pro-longed exposure to one another.
