History:
Silver was born into a nomadic tribe of elves that drifted between Connous and Karu. Despite being blind, he was raised in the same manner as other children of the tribe, even if his handicap had made it more difficult for him. He worked primarily as a supporter, staying close to his family and assisting with handicrafts and cooking for everyone. When it was time to move again, he clung wordlessly to his parents and followed. When the tribe settled again, it was back to supporting the others by making supplies used for hunting, cooking, sleeping and such.

This kind of lifestyle went on peacefully until his ninth year. He still doesn't understand what happened. All he knew was that something had passed over the camp one night - something so terrifying that his mother had buried him in the sand to keep him hidden. He recalled something similar having been done once when he was younger and the tribe had a close encounter with a desert dragon; but from the sound of it, this was no dragon. It was something smaller - around the size of one of the adults; and judging by the clashing of steel, winning in battle against the warriors. The noise had been muffled by the time he was buried; but Silver could still hear his father and elder brother's death cries, his mother's demands to know why it was happening before she was murdered, and then the continued screams of the remainder of the tribe as the assailant passed on.

Silver remained hidden until morning. When he emerged from the sands, there was nothing to greet him but a dead silence, and a lot of dead elves. Terrified, the boy ran - aimlessly, but anywhere was better than being among the dead, especially when scavengers came around, or worser yet, whoever had caused the massacre to begin with possibly returning to the scene. Fortunately, he was found near sunset by a Qilla exploration team at the borderlands between Karu and Connous Desert. When questioned, he explained things the best he could; but as he was unable to see a thing, he wasn't a good witness and only managed getting others to fan out and investigate. He heard there was another survivor picked up who had seen everything, but he never heard from her.

People were planning to send him to Filia much like they'd done with her after the interrogation; and much like her, he protested. He didn't know why exactly he was to stay out of Filia, but if his tribe had been avoiding the village for the nine years of his life, it must have been for good reason. His pleas were heard by a stranger who claimed to be a nobleman from Tara. He introduced himself as Jacquemo Rie; and while others were against taking an elven orphan back to Uldah with them, Rie was even more against sending Silver someplace he didn't want to go. So he adopted him, or rather said he'd do such. Instead, Silver took to calling him "Master" and treated the relationship more as a if he were a servant than a son.

Just as well - he was given a job in Tara Castle, and that was how everyone else took it, despite Rie's protests and trying to set the boy up with a better calling than kitchen sweeper. It was difficult for him to keep that as his focus though. Rie had enemies among other noble families in Tara; and through a series of unfortunate events was brought under suspicion of the elven massacre among other things. Silver knew it was untrue, as did a lot of the people that knew the man; but that hardly mattered against bribed officials intending to "bring him to justice". Deciding it better to flee, Jacquemo Rie disappeared from Tara, leaving Silver behind to continue his education. No matter what view the action was seen from, the overall opinion was that he wouldn't have fled had he been truly innocent.

With Ries gone, Silver's lessons dwindled to nothing. He was still taken care of; but the falling reputation of his "master" left him, as somebody loyal to the man, to suffer too. The only wish that remained respected was for him not to be sent back to Connous. In return though, the boy was confined to a servant's quarters and paid less than minimum wages in exchange for room and food (which, if not for Glewyas's passion about cooking, would have been nothing but stale bread and milk). It wasn't as nice as Rie's own home, but after the luck he had over the past year, Silver was content to remain there and await his master's return.

The Short Story:
Silver is a survivor of Fenrir's elven massacre from way back when, before the war started. Rather than being taken to Filia, he was claimed as deceased by Rie and taken to Tara, where he's been living peacefully up til now. Just a simple cleaner about the castle - does as he's told, tries very hard to behave himself, but refuses to leave the grounds for any reason. After all, Tara's a big place and the world is bigger. Without guidance of his tribe or Rie, nobody else he can trust beyond the gate, and little reason to move out into open spaces, he's not too enthusiastic about leaving.

...then again, 'Reno was an incubus just raised as an elf, so I don't think he counts.

Maybe I meant RPS' original blind elf? Back when I joined Xenny was the only elf I could remember being active in RP.

Could be, though maybe there was another. Who knows, I didn't keep track personally.

...ANYWAY! New character. Truly and normally blind, no mana sight, no fancy-pants overly-heightened other senses, not a soul streamer (so don't break him +_+)...don't care if it's been overdone or cliche. DEAL WITH IT! >:3
